A faithful dog guarded the shoes of his owner for a week after his owner passed away while on a hiking excursion to a Taoist temple in Taiwan.
According to Taiwan's Canton News, Mr. Yen went hiking on Elephant Mountain in Xinyi District of Taipei on December 12 in the company of his beloved dog. The pair hiked together for over 10 years according to Mr. Yen's family. When the man and his dog did not return home his family called police.
Police and firefighters looking for the missing 60-year-old man found his dog by the shoes on a hiking trail. They gave the dog food and water as he was visibly tired, hungry and thirsty. After finding Mr. Yen's dog, rescuers searched the area and found Mr. Yen's body only a few hundred feet away. He was found on the hillside behind Yaochi temple.
Firefighters returned Mr. Yen's dog safely to his family.
